This week, I want to share a customer use case that showcases AI and machine learning's advanced capabilities in action.

I’m talking about JibJab, the beloved provider of personalized eCards and digital entertainment, and how our collaboration with them laid the groundwork for their latest innovation: Starring You® AI.

From Machine Learning to Generative AI

A few years back, before generative AI really came into the spotlight, Mission Cloud partnered with JibJab to develop a machine-learning solution.

Our goal was to automate the process of cropping and preparing user-uploaded images for JibJab's new product line, Starring You Books.

Using AWS services like Amazon Rekognition and SageMaker, along with custom ML models, we created an algorithm that could:

• Detect faces in uploaded photos
• Automatically crop both face and hair
• Perform image post-processing for print-quality results

We saw some great results with this solution – a system that could prepare customized images in just 5 seconds, with 90% accuracy – a massive improvement over manual methods.

Starring You® AI

Fast forward to today, and JibJab has taken this concept to the next level with Starring You® AI.

This cutting-edge feature allows users to transform a single photo into a collection of fantastic, hilarious photo packs in seconds.

Built on the foundations of Stable Diffusion and Midjourney, and integrating state-of-the-art face recognition algorithms from Picsi.ai, Starring You® AI represents the culmination of years of innovation in personalized entertainment.

I’ve loved this collaboration with JibJab, and the journey from our initial ML project to JibJab's latest AI-powered offering is a great story.
